Shabbona's Ride: Across the Prairie, Warning Settlers to Flee
In 1827, and again in 1832, Shab-eh-nay personally saved some of these Illinois settlers from attack by hostile bands of Indians. This endeared Shab-eh-nay to the local community, which thereafter treated him as a hero and friend.
